DANTE THE ETERNAL POET

An immersive artwork that brought to life the idea of a “perceptive reading” of the Divine Comedy, blending the architectural beauty of the Pazzi Chapel with Gustave Doré’s animated engravings and an original choral score. A text-free experience — intimate, contemplative, and deeply human — developed with careful philological and iconographic research by an international scientific committee. A landmark in the field of Digital Humanities, acquired by Harvard University for long-term preservation and sharing. The exhibition, held from 13 September 2021 to 27 February 2022 in the Pazzi Chapel of the Opera di Santa Croce in Florence, welcomed more than 130,000 visitors and closed in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. A cultural project promoted by the F.E.C. – Fondo Edifici di Culto, the City of Florence and the Monumental Complex of Santa Croce, under the patronage of the National Scientific Committee for the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death, included in the official MiBAC calendar.
